Images from my Minnesota 7 Day Remote Winter Camping Trip / Four Wheel Camper / Part 2

Met da local loggers this morning… ha!
That’s why the road is plowed out so good.

All good, they are currently cutting logs for a log home up towards Walker.
They couldn’t get their tire chains on… well I happened to have an add-a-chain link in my truck so I helped them get the chain on the tire.

I befriended a logger, had some extra individual chain links, I gave them to him to help mount the chains on their semis. He told me about an area they just finished cutting. The logs are for a log home building company in Walker. It's about 4 miles off the pavement, they basically cut a new road, so it is remote.

Ice fishing village out on a lake in the area. Good times driving the ATV out on the ice.

Big time logging tractor to access the remote timber the loggers were cutting for the log homes.

Safe travels and good adventures to you’all.
Heading to Montana for some good mountain snowboarding.
Ride on!

Part 2 of 5 Day Camping Adventure in Northern Minnesota / Winter in the Four Wheel Camper

Good trip with dispersed camping in the State Forest. My Ford F-350 is becoming the adventure vehicle that I’ve envisioned. With a Warn Winch mounted in a cradle off the front connected into the new receiver hitch. With the Four Wheel Camper, set up with a propane forced air furnace, 160 watts of solar panel on the roof, a duel battery setup and 2 burner stove. This is a true Adventure Truck for off the grid travel and camping.
Leaving base camp in the afternoon for a night drive on the Forest Roads.

A good little snow overnight to give a wintery feel.

A bit of late night supper after exploring a couple hours in the dark.

Base camp.

This was a good full day of exploring the ATV trails along with miles of Forest Roads. Was able to get onto some smaller spur trails.

Final night of a good time campfire, listening to the owls and enjoying the solitude of the dispersed camping.

Ride on!

Late Season BMW 1250GSA Ride / Four Wheel Camper Dispersed Camping / Past 48 Hours

Exploring the Mississippi River Bluffs along the Wisconsin border on my BMW 1250GSA.
After riding the Moto all day, pointed the truck north towards Lake Mille Lacs. Drove into a brief snow storm, pulled over at 1:30am climbed in the camper, fired up the furnace and got a good sleep. That morning, stopped and had a breakfast with the Mille Lacs Walleye...

Traveled north another 70 miles north and dispersed camped off a Forest Road. Beautiful night under the stars, temps not too cold, about 35 overnight. Furnace in my FWCamper keeps me warm at 70 degrees. Good walk in the woods in the morning,
Adventure on!

Four Wheel Camper Adventure on da Lake Superior North Shore

Five day camping trip, the final 3 days I was dispersed camped southwest of Silver Bay, Minnesota. Started out the 3rd day of the trip scouting off forest roads for a suitable pulloff for my pickup / Four Wheel Camper and trailer.

As luck would have it, I found 2 locations. Drove the rig down a spur forest road and was able to back the trailer onto a smaller, somewhat overgrown forest road.

One day on the 300 KLX. Took off for the day in the rain. It actually makes it easier to gear up for the rain from the get go. Hooked on to Highway #1 that heads north towards Ely. Steady rain most of the day. Traveled the highway scouting for some likely forest roads. Found a 2 track road that led to a remote lake. The trail meandered up and down until it narrowed into a single trail. Crossed a creek and got bogged down a bit in a muddy low area. Got out of the bog, then came upon a very cool forest lake where the trail ended.

Back at camp with a good day of exploring on the moto. About 110 miles of pavement, gravel forest roads and a couple good forest trails. Good time adventure!

Cover up
RZR day.

Back er in about 150 yards off the spur trail. Good remote camp for 3 days.
My “Frogg Togg” rain suit, good for rain, bugs and dust.
Gotta check out Lake Superior. Skip a few rocks, climb around a few rocks, listening to the waves on the rocks. Lake Superior Rocks!

Ride on!
